Chicago, and all that jazz!

Last week I was my first ever visit to Chicago.  I spent four glorious days there.  What a great city, lots to see and do.  We managed to get around almost everywhere by walking, outside of  taking a cab to and from the airport, and one night to a town hall venue.  Originally we were hoping to rent bicycles for some exploring, but between the excessive heat, and still being under a dr’s. treatment for some health issues, we took a boat ride down the Chicago River instead.

At the Navy Pier there is a company “Bike and Roll” that rents bikes http://www.bikechicago.com/rent-a-bike?gclid=CMvUgOuxqaoCFWIRNAod00nOXA and a quick google search will give you the 411 on other stores that rent, and have bike tours, such as: http://www.bobbysbikehike.com/.

And a wealth of info for all things cycling, and certainly cycling in Chicago can always be found at: Let’s Go Ride a Bike http://letsgorideabike.com/blog/  Despite the high temperatures Dottie and crew still managed to pedal!

Additionally, http://www.sheridesabike.com/ just posted about traveling by plane and bringing her Dahon with her.  Bringing a folding bike along on a vacation seems like a great option to renting one for a lot of reasons.

Have you rented a bike to explore a new destination, or brought your own bike with you?

Thanks for plugging my blog! I just love, love, love Chicago! Jealous everytime I read LGRAB. Did the Chicago Marathon 5 years ago and got engaged the same weekend atop the John Hancock Tower. Wonderful, romantic, terrific food and such friendly people who are proud to call Chicago home and quick to give you tips on favorite things to do and see.

Yep! My ex and I went to Montreal last month and we brought our bikes to explore the city- it was absolutely fantastic taking advantage of their bike lane system and going down La Route Verre.
