I always have my eyes open for cute bike related useful items. I was quite pleased to see bike artist Taliah Lempert at the New Amsterdam Bike Show. She was a pleasure to talk with, and had a wide array of note cards, post cards, and tees all artistically imprinted with bicycles. I picked up several packages of note cards, two to give as gifts to friends who were unable to attend the show, and several to use myself. I also picked up a tee. I had previously registered for a workshop she is giving later this month, “Drawing the bicycle with Tahlia Lempert” at her Brooklyn studio and am very much looking forward to it.

Bicycles are important, beautiful, and worth a close look. Most bikes I paint are, or have been, used daily for transportation, recreation, messenger work and/or for racing, They are worn and customized uniquely, being at once a specific bike and a collective symbol of empowerment. |
